Frequently Asked Questions

Do you attend ceremony rehearsals?

Unfortunately, we do not come to ceremony rehearsals due to our busy schedules as musicians. If you're worried about timing of the ceremony, we can go over it on the phone. Let us assure you that we have played hundreds of weddings between the three of us and have developed quite a knack for doing this sort of thing!  All we need is a cue for when the ceremony begins (someone who can signal us for the seating of the grandparents, for example). After that, we take care of all the timing and we don't need any cues.

Can we meet with you in person before the ceremony?

We are more than  happy to help you select music for your wedding, and can provide some standard suggestions.  We find that this is easily discussed via email.  If you would like a private consultation in person, (rather than via email) we do charge a $25 fee.

Do you require a deposit?

No, we do not require a deposit, but we ask that you submit a contract to reserve your date.

What is the best method of payment?

We accept payment in the form of cash or a check made out to Erica Johansen. Payments should be received at least one week before the event.  We find this makes things easier on the day of the event.

What sort of equipment do you require on the day of?

We need three armless chairs and a covered area if there is rain  or direct sun.

Do you play for receptions?

Yes, we do. We are a string trio and tend to be on the quiet side and therefore better for ceremony music or a small reception.  Also, our repertoire contains a few lighter works and jazzy pieces but is mostly classical, so it all depends on what style of music you would like for the reception.

What if my ceremony goes over an hour?

Our minimum playing time is an hour. We have found that is usually the perfect amount of time for ceremony music. This includes prelude music, ceremony music, and music while guest are filing out.  If your ceremony ends up lasting slightly less or more than an hour, the price remains the same.

What time will you get there?

We arrive at the venue 15-20 minutes prior to scheduled playing time. At this time we pick up a program, meet the wedding coordinator or officiant and double check any timing with them.

I would like to book you, but I haven’t chosen my musical selections yet.

No worries! Just fill out what you can and we can help you decide closer to the big day.

I would like to request a song that’s not on your list. How much does this cost?

When couples have a special request such a song from a movie we ask them to purchase the piano/vocal score and provide us with a photocopy of it, or reimburse us for our purchase of it. Then we will create parts out of the score.
